ABOUT FUTURE SHORTS
& FUTURE SHORTS FESTIVAL
Future Shorts is the largest short film network in the world. Working across exhibition, distribution and experiential events, Future Shorts is the product of 10 years of audience development, experimentation and
of reacting to the demand for another way of experiencing film.
Since 2003 we built a new audience for film across the globe, developed
a platform for filmmakers that allows millions of people worldwide to
engage with their work.
“ Future Shorts breaks boundaries, borders and conventions to connect a global audience to the
world’s best short films. ”
Founder, Fabien Riggall

AUDIENCE AND FILMMAKERS
COME TOGETHER
The Future Shorts Festival is the biggest pop up film festival of its kind, showcasing the most exciting short films from around the world. It is a massive screening
network and a powerful global community.
Since its launch in November 2011, the festival currently takes place in
over 90 countries and 300 cities, showcasing a single programme of the best short films often alongside live music, DJs and art. From London to Moscow, Melbourne to Jakarta, the screenings take place across a massive network of music halls, cinemas, theatres, galleries, clubs and warehouses.
Each screening is a voyage of discovery for its audience, exploring new ways for them to interact and exposing them to exciting art forms they might not have otherwise engaged with.
A fundamental element of hosting the festival is to encourage live and online interaction between audiences throughout the world.

OUR PROGRAMMING
We are committed to finding the widest possible audience for both emerging and established filmmakers. We use the medium of short film
to expose amazing stories from across the globe and to give us a clearer understanding of the world we live in.
Highlights from the first quarterly Future Shorts programme include 2011 Oscar winner God of Love, the 2011 Sundance winner Deeper than Yesterday, BAFTA winner The Eagleman’s Stag, and the amazing Swedish one-take wonder Incident By a Bank, which won the Golden Bear at Berlin.
Future Shorts will curate and license a feature length programme of world
class short film on a quarterly basis and make it available for theatrical
and non-theatrical screening throughout the world.
